Whether you’re seeking to build an affordable home in which to raise a family, a quiet empty nest for you and your sweetheart, or a vacation cabin for rustic weekend getaway adventures, the eight 2,200 sq. ft. layouts below are sure to please! Note: If you’re questioning whether or not 2,200 sq. ft. will be enough space, consider selecting a design that offers a basement, walkout basement, or daylight basement foundation that could be finished later, should the need arise.

Beautiful Open Floor Plan with Photos Plan 430-189
Enter through the two-car garage of this fabulous 2,165 sq. ft. house plan and note the strategic placement of built-in lockers, a spacious laundry room, and a walk-in pantry, perfect for facilitating grocery runs and keeping things organized after long days at work, school, or sports practice. Travel a little farther into the home and discover its smart open-concept main living area, which opens onto a rear porch with outdoor kitchen.
As for bedrooms, this blueprint offer three: two on the right side of the property, and one (the primary suite) on the left. This is what’s known as a split-bedroom layout, an interior design that affords a little extra privacy and serenity to the primary suite.
Other highlights include extra storage in the garage, a formal dining room for special holiday gatherings, a kitchen island, an optional upstairs bonus room (with attached bonus bath), and a sweet primary suite that sports two vanities, a separate tub and shower, a private space for the toilet, a roomy walk-in closet, and easy access to the laundry room.

Colossal Closet Plan 430-159
This 2,275 sq. ft. Craftsman ranch design is similar to the plan above, but not identical. Note how this layout features an even-more-impressive primary walk-in closet that sports its own island, built-in dresser, and special “hidden room” area, which could be used for security or additional storage (like shoes!). Also note how this design places a powder room just off the garage entrance for convenience and ceiling beams above the kitchen and dining space for extra Craftsman charm.

Narrow Lot? No Problem! Plan 430-117
This four-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath, 2,184 sq. ft. cottage style plan is only twenty-four feet wide, making it potentially perfect for a narrow lot. Also, how cute is that front porch? Pretty darn cute.
Inside, discover a ten-foot ceiling in the open-concept great room, a kitchen island with a raised eating bar, and built-ins on either side of the cozy fireplace. Keep moving toward the rear of the house and note the primary suite, which boasts two sinks, a separate tub and shower, a private space for the toilet, a walk-in closet, and ten-foot ceilings. Meanwhile, three additional bedrooms, one extra bathroom, and a small loft reside upstairs.
Finally, if you're coming in from the rain or snow, it's probably best to enter through the rear porch, where you'll be greeted by two built-in storage areas in which you can store muddy boots, wet jackets, and such. Also note the rear porch's close proximity to the spacious laundry room.
Cool Kitchen Plan 929-1025
If a lack of kitchen counter space is a pain point in your current home, you'll probably appreciate this beautiful, 2,239 sq. ft. Craftsman style ranch design. Note how this plan's open-concept kitchen offers both an island and a peninsula.
Steps away from the kitchen lives the great room, which boasts a cool, coffered ceiling, and a warm fireplace. Adjacent to the kitchen, great room, and dining area, there's a covered rear porch with skylights, as well as a luxurious screened porch, which features an outdoor fireplace, a cathedral ceiling, and skylights. Chic x 10!
On the left side of the property you'll notice the primary suite, which presents two walk-in closets, two vanities, and a separate tub and shower. Meanwhile, two additional bedrooms and a bath live on the opposite side of the home, a study (which could be used a fourth bedroom, home office, or den) rests just off the main entrance, and an optional bonus room resides upstairs.
Ultra-Modern and Unique Plan 497-28
If bold, modern curb appeal is your thing, look no further than two-bedroom, two-bathroom home design 497-28 (above). Inside this unique layout, note the smart open floor plan and kitchen island on the main floor. On the upper floor, check out the private primary suite with a very large bedroom. Additional primary-suite perks include a walk-in closet, two sinks, and a stylish and spacious roof deck for morning coffee or romantic sunsets.
Country Farmhouse Plan with Wrap Around Porch Plan 932-268
If warm, country curb appeal and outdoor living are on your must-have list, this 2,229 sq. ft. farmhouse is definitely worth exploring. First, let's start by noting the spacious wrap around porch. How sweet would it be to just relax the day away on that porch with a good book and a cool mountain breeze?
Step inside the main entrance of this posh plan and discover the main-living space, which boasts an open layout, a cooktop kitchen island, a vaulted ceiling over the great room, a fireplace, and two sets of French doors that take you back out onto the wrap around porch. Also note the den/home office that can be found just off the main entrance.
On the left side of the main floor plan you'll see the primary suite, which features a built-in bookcase, two sinks, a separate tub and shower, a walk-in closet, close proximity to the laundry room, and access to the wrap around porch. Each suite boasts two sinks and a walk-in closet, and one of the suites presents a separate tub and shower and a private space for the toilet.

Gorgeous Curb Appeal Plan 1074-15
The first thing you'll probably notice about this 2,290 sq. ft. plan is the wooden truss that frames the main entrance. This rustic design element adds warmth and Craftsman charm to an already beautiful home. Now, let's go inside!
The open-concept kitchen offers tons of storage with a butler's pantry that connects to a large walk-in pantry. Adding to the sense of spaciousness is the ten-foot ceiling, with a special tray-ceiling design above the island. As the kitchen becomes the great room, notice how the ten-foot ceilings become vaulted.
Two bedrooms and a bathroom live on the left side of the home, while the primary suite resides on the right. The primary suite features a vaulted ceiling, two sinks, a separate tub and shower, a huge walk-in closet fit with its own island, and easy access to the laundry room, which presents a built-in rod/shelf, a broom cabinet, and a laundry sink.

Finally, let's talk about outdoor living, as this plan has plenty. First, there's a spacious and covered front porch. Then, there's the rear porch, which boasts an outdoor kitchen.
